One year after the events of "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors", Nancy Thompson and Kristen Parker discover that Freddy Krueger has found a way back into the dream world. Freddy begins to pick off Kristen's friends one by one in their dreams, and when they die in their dreams, they also die in real life. Kristen manages to pull her friend Alice Johnson into the dream world to fight Freddy, but soon Alice finds herself as the last one standing against the dream demon.
